PUNK STITCH

The exhibition explores the potential of needle and thread to serve as a form of self-expression and rebellion in relation to systems of values associated with the textile industry.

The works reclaim discarded garments and textile offcuts from old sewing projects, contextualising them by means of a humble cross-stitch.

They embody a sloppy and messy approach to stitching as a method of activism and care that rejects neoliberal and patriarchal expectations of production.
