Not Shouting Asking
Not Shouting Asking, is an exhibition of text based works on paper and participatory installation made of woven letters that aims to seek beauty in truth. The works on paper are made by first harvesting Lomandra longifolia, curing the long strappy leaves, followed by then weaving a suite of hand woven letters. The result, a unique analogue font the artist calls Badass Caña, arranged into words and phrases the letters are inked up and ran through the press. Visitors to the exhibition are invited to challenge and reimagine the current dominant social narrative, to create their own words and phrases with the woven letters installed in the exhibition space to take a photo and upload it to their own social media accounts with the hashtag #BadassCaña.
