The Gates into Ancestral World
‘The Gates into Ancestral World’ is an artist’s broad investigations of self and identity. Through a series of mixed media works on paper and acrylic paintings, Pavlovic recalls a history that is at once personal and universal, referring to her own matrilineal history of trauma caused by wars and intergenerational trauma. ‘The Gates of Ancestral World’ is exploring a legacy of wars, that is resulting in intergenerational traumas and their echoes across time and place. These series are a narrative driven body of work and during the process of searching for truth, healing is taking place. The artist is inviting the audience to participate in this process by writing a forgiveness letter to their ancestors.
