An Intimate Terrain

‘An intimate terrain’ encompasses a series of expanded photographic works, manipulating traditional analogue processes to critique and subvert canonical representations and understandings of the ‘body', as archived in photography.

This collection documents iterations of manipulated film negatives, lumen prints and silver gelatine exposures, engaging with the body foremost as a shared organic vessel through which we live and experience, with a focus on corporeal processes and minutiae including sweat, heat, skin and natural forms.

Developed through contact based processes, each work is a trace of the body, pressed and layered on various surfaces and materials, interrogating the modes of documenting and interpreting ourselves through the organic nuances and impressions left in spaces we engage with.
