What’s in a Name?
What’s in a Name? Everything and nothing, all at once, once and for all. Is it not interesting how a poetic renunciation by the Bard assumes such distinctly complex signification for those part of the broader South Asian diaspora? Especially as our names find themselves intertwined with questions of identity, erasure, autonomy, displacement, longing, lineage, alienation, and sometimes even a pause — indefinitely awaiting annunciation.
